چکیده

Editorial PrEfacE i As you would expect from its title, the International Journal of Actor-Network Theory and Technological Innovation (IJANTTI) covers two areas: • Actor-Network Theory and • Technological Innovation. ANT itself, of course, has a good deal to say about technological innovation through Innovation Translation, but it does not have a monopoly of theorising innovation. This issue contains articles covering several different approaches to innovation , including Innovation Translation, Innovation Diffusion, the Technology Acceptance Model and the Technology-Organization-Environment. In the first article Yuti Ariani and Sonny Yuliar from the Institute of Technology Bandung in Indonesia employ the notion of translation to study current bio-fuel developments in Indonesia. The paper seeks on understanding of the bio-fuel development trajectory by investigating a variety of elements that shape this trajectory. The article shows that the translations follow specific patterns of qualculation, namely 'proliferation' and 'rarefaction. In the second article, Scott Bingley and Stephen Burgess from Victoria University in Australia discuss the Innovation-Decision process as an important component of Rogers' Innovation Diffusion approach. They describe the development of a visual aid (I-D Maps) to depict the manner in which Internet applications are diffused through local sporting associations. The paper demonstrates how I-D Mapping is a more suitable method of visual of presentation than other methods. Next, Napaporn Kripanont, from Kasetsart University in Thailand describes research which modelled adoption of Internet technology by academics in Business Schools in Public Universities in Thailand. Formulation of the research model was based mainly on TAM and its derivatives, and the article begins by reviewing several prominent theories of technology acceptance. The study generated a research model: 'The Internet Acceptance Model' which demonstrates that only perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and self-efficacy significantly influence actual usage behaviour. Ali Alawneh and Ezz Hattab, from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences in Amman, Jordan, have used the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework to develop an extended model to examine technological , organizational and environmental factors which influence e-banking adoption in Jordanian banks. The final paper, by Arthur Tatnall from Victoria University in Australia makes a comparison between two approaches to technological innovation: Innovation Diffusion and Innovation Translation. It provides a number of examples of how each approach is used in a variety of different situations. The article concludes that while there are many advantages to use of a Translation approach , we should not simply disregard Innovation

A Critical Review of the Ontological Assumptions of Actor-Network Theory for Representing e-Government Initiatives

The potential contribution of Actor-Network Theory (ANT) for representing e-government initiative flows from its ontological assumptions. However, these assumptions have never been critically reviewed using real e-government cases. Using two e-government cases in Indonesia, the paper tries to provide real evidence on how meaningful are all ontological assumptions of ANT for representing e-gover...
